Lady Liberty

I wonder what she thought
As she stood there, strong and tall.
She couldn't turn away,
She was forced to watch it all.

Did she long to offer comfort
As her country bled?
With her arm forever frozen
High above her head.

She could not shield her eyes
She could not hide her face
She just stared across the water
Keeping Freedom's place.

The smell of smoke and terror
Somehow reduced her size
So small within the harbor
But still we recognized...

How dignified and beautiful
On a day so many died
I wonder what she thought,
And I know she must have cried.

One

As the soot and dirt and ash rained down, We became one color.
As we carried each other down the stairs of the burning building,
We became one class.
As we lit candles of waiting and hope,
We became one generation.
As the firefighters and police officers fought their way into the inferno,
We became one gender.
As we fell to our knees in prayer for strength,
We became one faith.
As we whispered or shouted words of encouragement,
We spoke one language.
As we gave our blood in lines a mile long, We became one body.
As we mourned together the great loss,
We became one family.
As we cried tears of grief and loss,
We became one soul.
As we retell with pride of the sacrifice of heroes,

We become one people.

We are:
One color
One class
One generation
One gender
One faith
One language
One body
One family
One soul
One people
We are the Power of One.
We are United.
We are America.

To the Bayshore Patriots,
Thanks for showing your pride in America. I usually leave the base by 3/3:30pm so I've had the privilege of seeing ya'll only once when I had to work late. I'm so glad that there are folks who are not ashamed of our flag and what it represents. I'm not sure if I'll be here or at the Pentagon on 11 Sept. I was at the Pentagon the morning of 11 Sept and want to see the memorial service that is being planned. If I'm not in DC, I'll be joining you on Bayshore that morning. Thanks for the time you give each week.
TSgt Trish Ayres - Executive to the USSOCOM Command Chaplain

Keep up the GREAT work. FLY THEM HIGH! Wayne A. Pavlischek

Your spirit and patriotism is an inspiration to those of us serving our country -- especially in light of recent protests at our gate. Thank you.

I'm TSgt Troy Di Vito and I'm in the Air Force with U.S. Central Command. I thought I would just drop a line and extend my thanks for what you've been doing out on Bayshore. When you first started your little campaign, many of us in the military were working extremely long hours and had very few days off. After Sept 11th, we worked for approximately 30 consecutive days without a day off. Seeing you and your people waving the flag each Friday when I depart the base really made me feel that our efforts were not going unnoticed. Though things have slowed down, but the campaign continues, and it still makes my week each Friday when I look forward to seeing the growing group of individuals waiting to wave the flag as I drive past. I appreciate what your doing. Keep up the good work, and if I can make it, I will be there on Sept 11th, with my own flag. You are making a difference! Thank you!
- TSgt Troy D. Di Vito

Thank you for all you have done to honor our heros in the armed forces! We think you guy's are hero's as well for keeping the interest in 9/11 and for putting so much effort into every Friday. The nation should be paying close attention to see what LOVE OF COUNTRY really means. Thank you, We will be there on 9/11/02 and hopefully before. Very Sincerely,
- Marilyn and Carl Langley

August 1st I moved away from my Davis Island home to Virginia. I am so sad that I left before 9/11 as I would have liked to participate on the Bayshore. However, having come up to Virginia the impact of that awful day seems more apparent here. As an airline employee it is my intention to fly on that day to NYC and in some way I can show my support.Pass on to those that are doing this ----- I support you and God bless.
- Nancy H. McCoy

I have been spreading word about your website and trust me, there will be plenty of local cops in attendance with their squads supporting your Event! We certainly need more people like you around and I think it's great what you're doing for our country! - Renee' Lee Greco The Ruskin Chamber of Commerce has added your site to our link page. Good luck and God Bless. The Chamber appreciates your hard work and effort. Sincerely,
- Danny Kushmer, Executive Director - www.ruskinchamber.org

You all are creating such a wonderful tribute. My family and I would like to be involved in waving flags. We live on Davis Island and I am an architect and amateur photographer working both digital and 35mm type cameras and have desktop publishing experience. Let me know if I might help in anyway regarding images for your website or if you need any pics between now and the tribute for email or media. I always enjoy your presence at Bay to Bay....
